The Google Play Icon Checker applies hard checks to the Play Console store listing asset. Transparency is counted but does not fail by itself. Untagged color is a warning because browser Canvas cannot reconstruct the source profile.

Start with the store listing asset you plan to upload in Play Console. The Google Play Icon Checker reads the actual PNG structure instead of trusting the filename or an editor export label.

This rule pack checks the 512 x 512 graphic shown on the Google Play store listing. It is not the Android launcher or adaptive icon, which uses foreground and background layers plus device-specific masks.
The Google Play Icon Checker measures deterministic file facts; Google Play then applies its own mask and shadow after upload. Transparency is counted as evidence, not failed automatically. Listing composition, brand clarity, and small-size legibility stay as manual review. Adaptive launcher layers are a different Android asset. A pixel heuristic cannot honestly predict Play Console acceptance.

After returning to the source artwork, export a square 512 x 512 pixel listing icon and run the file through the Google Play Icon Checker. Resizing an already compressed raster file can soften edges and small details.
Confirm the exact byte result after reducing unnecessary metadata or using lossless PNG optimization. Keep the 512 x 512 canvas and RGBA pixel format instead of relying on a rounded “1 MB” label.
Export four 8-bit channels with PNG bit depth 8 and color type 6, even when every alpha value is fully opaque.
Convert the source artwork to sRGB and embed a valid profile during export. The checker warns rather than inventing a pass when the original PNG is untagged.
The file can be verified here, but keep important artwork inside the visual safe area without imitating Google Play’s final mask or shadow. The platform applies its own treatment after upload.
